Personally hand-signed by Gordie Howe in blue Sharpie Pen, this 16x20” black and white photo features Mr. Hockey himself playfully posing in front of dozens of pucks in a net. This vintage photograph celebrates Gordie’s induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame on August 24, 1972, the year after he retired.Notably Jean Beliveau, a lifelong member of the Montreal Canadiens was also inducted into the HHOF that year. Both players were waived the traditional three-year waiting period to be considered for their iron-clad candidacies.

Gordie Howe played 26 season in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Detroit Red Wings and Hartford Whalers. He was an offensive player (1,850 points in 1,767 NHL games) who amassed 1,685 career penalty minutes. Gordie won six (6) Hart Trophies and four (4) Stanley Cups - earning himself the title of Mr. Hockey and leaving one of the most iconic legacies the game has ever seen.

Since then, three more legends have been elected to the Hall right after they retired: Boston defenseman Bobby Orr in 1979, Pittsburgh Penguins center Mario Lemieux in 1997 (though he did return three years later for portions of five more seasons), and Wayne Gretzky of the Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, St. Louis Blues and New York Rangers in 1999.
